Dr. Chris Eckland is a board eligible orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, with emphasis on shoulder and knee injuries. Dr. Eckland
grew up in the Midwest, graduating high school from Shawnee Mission Northwest. He graduated from Kansas State University and then attended
medical school at the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City.
After completing his residency at Botsford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, he furthered his training by completing a fellowship In sports medicine at
Orthopaedic Research of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. In Virginia, he had the opportunity to work with the NFLs Washington Redskins, provided local
high school football coverage, and donated time to covering the winter and summer events of the Special Olympics of Virginia.
Dr. Eckland's orthopaedic interests include arthroscopic treatment for shoulder, knee, and elbow problems. He is dedicated to patient education and helping patients maintain quality of life for recreational to elite athletes. He also believes strongly that patient education leads to informed decision making and ultimately a more favorable outcome in treatment.
Dr. Eckland is affiliated with numerous professional organizations including the Arthroscopy Association of North America, American Osteopathic Association, and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics. He is also a member of the Kansas Medical Society and the Medical Society of Sedgwick County. He also serves on the staffs of Via Chn'sti Health System, Wesley Medical Center, and Surgery Center of Kansas.
Outside of work, Dr. Eckland enjoys spending quality time with his wife and daughter. He also enjoys recreational hockey, golf, personal fitness, and water sports.
