Dr. Heady is a
board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery.
After receiving his bachelor's and master's degrees in Physics from
Kansas State University and the California Institute of Technology, he went
on to receive his medical degree from the University of Kansas School
of Medicine in Wichita in 1996. He then completed a five-year residency
in orthopaedic surgery at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, S.C. In addition, Dr. Heady completed a fellowship in
foot and ankle surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.
At Kansas Orthopaedic
Center, Dr. Heady feels his role in caring for the patient
is to accurately diagnose the patient's condition so that he may educate
and guide the patient in making the best treatment choices based on
the available medical information along with the patient's personal
needs. Dr. Heady and his treatment team can then help the patient implement
the chosen treatment. Dr. Heady firmly believes in drawing upon all
of the expertise of the members of his team to make these goals attainable.
Dr. Heady serves on staff at Via Christi Health System, Wesley Medical Center and Surgery Center of Kansas. He is also a member
of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society,
Christian Medical and Dental Society, Kansas Medical Society, and the
Medical Society of Sedgwick County.
Growing up on a farm in southeastern Kansas, Dr. Heady enjoys the outdoors including fishing,
hunting, gardening and flying kites. Indoors, you will find him working
with computers, cooking in the kitchen or enjoying a book on science
fiction, fantasy or Christian literature. Dr. Heady also enjoys doing
short-term mission trips.
As a family, Dr. Heady, his wife, Cindy and his girls, Sarah and Jana,
enjoy traveling to zoos, beaches, children’s museums and participating
in church activities.
