Dr. Steven Howell is a board
certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery. He
received his medical degree from the University of Kansas
and completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the KU School of
Medicine in Wichita.
Prior to joining Kansas Orthopaedic Center, Dr, Howell completed a fellowship
in foot and ankle surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, making him
the first physician in the state with this type of training.
In working with patients, Dr. Howell feels that being a Wichita native is a plus. His familiarity
with the people and the area helps build the trust which is an important part
of his style of practicing medicine. He feels that a patient’s
confidence in his abilities and judgment promotes open communication essential
to successful diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic disorders.
Dr. Howell serves on the staffs of Via Christi Health Systems, Wesley Medical
Center and Surgery Center of Kansas. He is also a member of the American
Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society,
Kansas Medical Society and the Medical Society of Sedgwick County.
Away from the office, Dr. Howell enjoys spending time with his wife Sue, a
physical therapist, and their children Kaitlynn and Kramer. He also likes to
stay in shape by working out and playing golf.
